South America is home to 12 recognized Masonic jurisdictions spanning the continent's independent nations and two territories. Every jurisdiction listed here is recognized by the United Grand Lodge of England. This index covers all recognized grand lodges across South America.

South American Freemasonry developed in close parallel with the continent's independence movements of the early nineteenth century. Several of the region's founding fathers were Masons, and grand lodges were constituted across the continent from the 1820s onward. All 12 jurisdictions covered here are recognized by the United Grand Lodge of England.

Brazil presents the most structurally complex Masonic landscape in the region, with more than 30 separate UGLE-recognized grand lodges operating across its states under the federal Grande Oriente do Brasil. Colombia similarly has six UGLE-recognized bodies rather than a single national grand lodge. All other South American jurisdictions operate under a single sovereign grand lodge per country.

No Prince Hall grand lodges operate in South America. The Prince Hall Affiliated tradition developed in the United States and does not extend to South American jurisdictions.
